St Mary’s and St James’ stand in the liberal (progressive) Catholic tradition of the Church of England. Both parishes use vestments, have Reservation, use the Hail Mary in the weekly Intercessions and offer prayers for the dead. St James’ uses incense and recites the Angelus at the end of Mass. Both have statues of the Blessed Virgin, provide votive candles and hold an annual May Devotion to the Blessed Virgin. Both celebrate Corpus Christi with processions and Benediction. Our main Sunday worship is Sung Mass, with incense at St James’, and a small serving team in both Churches.
Both St Mary’s and St James’ are members of Inclusive Church and Onebodyonefaith. For further information on these organisations please visit their website via our links page and are supportive of the Equal Marriage Campaign.
